Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is a diabetes complication that has its effects on the eyes. It is caused by damage to the blood vessels of the light-sensitive tissue at the rear of the attention (retina). At first, diabetic retinopathy may not cause any symptoms or only mild vision problems. After that, it can cause blindness. This condition can develop in anyone who is having type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The longer a person has got diabetes and therefore the less controlled his blood glucose is, the more likely he is able to develop this eye complication.
